Fine Dining

I did my best. Really.

I tired to do a minced meat with egg actually, but i put the meat into water and it "dissolved"! Ahah! Seriously i did try to save it but it look too wrong to eat, so i cutted up some hotdogs instead and threw it all in with some sesame oil which i happen to find.

I guess the yong tau hu was a success I din't try to taste it. Yeah... I fear failure. But at least it look right.

What can i really expect? Can eat very happy ler.

First Formula 1 Night Race

4days before the actual event.

Roads are blocked. Restricted access in some cases, only passable if you hold a valid pass. Carparks at Marina Sq & Millienia Walk are pulled out for special usages.

Jam starts all the way from Nicoll Highway into town and it's a very organised jam. I must comment that Singapore did a good job at this area. It's a heavy, heavy jam yet everything seems so in line. No honking. Nobody tried to changed lane (maybe everyone know that the whole 4 lanes are blocked).

A little trouble is inevitable i guess. All this to welcome the first night race.

1 Full Year Cycle

1 Full cycle, 367.4days had passed since my new estate "Coral Spring" first launch.

19th September 2007.

Today, 21st September 2008 (Yeah a few days late) we see the load testing being done, tower cranes, site offices and all the green green grass which kids uses to play soccer on is now officially full steam under construction.

It won't be done in another 2years+, coming 3. But i guess Mrs Neo & myself is ever excited over it. Everyday is a day closer to a place that will be our new home.

Buying the flat was like a milestone for us. A humble 4room, yet it's a stage of life, most Singaporean goes through. So i guess up next will be to have a baby and i guess our life is "completed", or should i say blessed.

Some of the latest developments to date.

Battle of the hairsprays

Driving home after dinner with Mrs Neo & Leo, Leo suddenly mention that he have a table tennis competition this coming October.

And guess what, he'll be representing his hometown. The game works on "huey kuan" system. Where each city, town or country will have their individual representative. Leo immediatly told Mrs Neo and myself that he's not there to win first place.

Of course we know.
Because we all know who Singapore is going to send what.

It's the battle of the hairspray.
Will the Mohawk Hairstyle turn the table around the Messed Up Hairstyle?

Well, 2nd place is good enough too.

*All pictures used in this illustrations are editied to protect the involved parties. Should they look familiar, please start thinking that they are not. It's just a simple rabbit and snail description.

Home Alone 2

As in the 2 of us are Home Alone.

Mum went to Taiwan, after a little "push" (really little one) from us. Complaining that it's going to cost a lot and since we will be bringing her there next year, she kept saying she didn't want to go.

But well, she's there now. Enjoying herself. It's good to have a big family, i paid a portion of the airfare and some of my sisters chipped in and there you have it. 7 Days Taiwan trip seems relatively affordable.

I woke up this morning. No breakfast, i don't have my waterbottle to put in my car hanging at the door. Heehee. I'm such a leech. Sucking onto her even when i'm so grown up.

Yesterday, Mrs Neo & myself were so excited about having out own time for a week, i dated her out for dinner and after that i told myself not to do it again. I spend close to $250 in one night, less then 2hours.

哇靠!

Mum's seems happy though. My phone conversation with her, i can feel her excitment over the line. Glad that she's enjoying and taking a break from looking after my nephew, who is now in hospital due to throat infection. Poor him. So young and he don't know how to complain about his pain, so everyday just cry. Hai.. hope he gets better soon!

Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease

Yup, i think i have it.

2 x nephew have it already and i have been carrying them like nobody's business.
But today i went to see the docter after being chased home from work by my manager.

Doctor says that it might not be and gave me some cream. I was back to work in 1hrs time.

I do get this spots here and there.. It's growing in numbers.
But it might just be a rash. Which i hope so.

But i do have sore throat. No fever though.

My immune system is getting bad after my last massive, horrible, 1 week lao sai session.
I think i got to start some exercise going. Else it's going to get bad.

嫁入梁家

Picking up Mrs Neo from the MRT station last night after her catch up dinner with her girlfriends...

Mr Neo: "So how's dinner?"
Mrs Neo: "Oh ok, Wenie went to so many countries this time round, brought me this candy from Korea and this bear bear from Europe."
Mrs Neo: "Ohh and i returned her the money for the Coach Bag that she helped my Mum buy..."
Mrs Neo: "我现在真的是凉太太了."
Mr Neo: "Hahaha, because you "嫁入梁家""

Congratulations Shirley!

Well, Shirley Chiew.

She snatched up position 16. A position that's much yearn for, for many.

In my current company coming a decade now.
She have decided it's time to move on. It was a piece of shocking news to me. The pioneer of the company, left the family behind to built a production factory from scratch. Irreplaceable in my point of view.

Many had told me that she was not a nice person to work with.
But after this short 3 months that she was back, i find her very approachable, very caring to her staffs (too bad she's not my department), fun-loving yet a calm and compose figure.

I joined the company in 1st April 2006, saw 16 ppl left.. From people who are with us for 2 mths to ppl who are with us from the 1st day the company was founded.

Talk about high turnover!

I wish to really thank my company for letting me experience all this within a compressed period of time! This is life, this is reality.

The company is a entity. It has and will never have a soul. It will never feel for you. Whereas, us, we are human, we have a soul, we feel.

That's why we will hate a company, dislike the way it works.
Yet the company, will never know what's wrong.

Gallery Hotel, Singapore

A visit to Gallery Hotel Singapore, an escape into urban legend. Sheer experience that rewrites the defination of hotel stay

Hotel:
Gallery Hotel, Singapore
Star: 3
Feels like: 3.5

Pros:
The plain simple (not sleek), and clean design, nothing over furnished. They seem to tint all their glass windows which throws you into a ultra slow paced, relaxed mood. Cement screeded lobby with a plain white reception table emphasize that you are in a boutique hotel. Service however is not

sub-standard. We called and they actually allowed a early check in at 9.30am, compared to the supposingly 2pm. Thumbs up!

Room number was burned onto the timber strip in front of the room rather then the traditional number on the door system.

Room was humble and cosy. Beds lined with 4 colorful pillows in different color brings the silky white linen to life.

Washroom is clean, neat with black contrasting floor tiles. Ample selections of shower foam was another plus point, labeled "Lust", "Relax", "Adore" and such, the variety they offered made us smile. A semi-translucent glass door was all that demarks the toilet and main bedroom.

Another attraction was the infinity swimming pool. A strech of pool that goes all the way into open air, at the end of the pool you will find no wall, no tiles, but plain see thru glass while you admire the beauty and serenity of Mdhm Sultan below.

Cons:
Rooms are small and not ideal for travellers whom are big spenders. Probably their shopping will flood the room.
No wired internet connection avaliable. But they provide internet and fax service in their business office.

No eateries or shops in the nearby vicinity. Many pubs though.

I rate this hotel 8 out of 10 for a local getaway and 6.5 out of 10 if i am a traveller.

Big Day

I didn't really believe it was over.

Weddings are hectic events. I once thought that my turn was over until my bro-in-law got married yesterday.

Taking leave since friday (as if i am the groom), it began with the picking up of the bride's relative from the airport, followed by a 3table, 30pax dinner at Changi Village to sending them to their lodging at Arenda which ended at around 1.30am. And that's just friday.

Saturday was not easy on us. Sending Mrs Neo for her pedi & manicure, helping mum prepare the stuffs for her taiwan trip in a few days time, a wedding dinner for a friend at Furama, more nitty gritty things to do back at my in-laws place after the dinner saw us back home at 12.45am Seriously there's a lot more things that was done, but i didn't want to think back and once again fall into a state of shock!

On the way home, i told Mrs Neo...

Mr Neo: "My car very dirty, i think i just go carwash la else pick up bride not nice (as if i am the bridal car! Haha), but i really think they can't do a good job u know"
Mrs Neo: "I think so too. I think u shld wash yourself"

With that encouragement, i dropped off Mrs Neo and went car washing. Reaching home, 1.30am.

Mrs Neo: "You are back.. Let's sleep, i wanna wake up at 3.30am. Can you wake me? I scared i can't even with the alarm"
Mrs Neo: "Ok. Leave the alarm with me.. I'll wake you"

A promise said, and i was determined to deliver. I took naps, didn't really fall asleep and woke her up on time. Relieved of my duty. I dosed off and told her to wake me up 15mins before leaving home. And guess what... I only slept 45mins.....

A droopy eyed morning, fetch the bride, lotsa crazy driving, ROM, this that, help to check in on the hotel (yup, since they throwing the dinner at the resturant, we lovingly got them a room at Gallery Hotel, a boutique hotel with exquisite room and design), this that again, dinner, this that and finally send my in-laws home.

It was done deal! We got him married! Yeahh! I wonder why it felt more tiring then my wedding. At least Mrs Neo got a present from her brother for helping out thru the months. I didn't even get anything. Somemore i help him do his montage leh.

No point complaining.

I hope he stays happy, take good care of his new found love and family.

Gone in 60 Seconds

10th September 2008 | 7.13am | Wednesday | Sunny

A frantic knock on my bedroom door, half a micro second later, the door swing open.

Awaken by the commotion, i peeled open my weary eyes and it was my mum.
Admist the dark interior of my room, the shine off the morning sun was a nice wake up call.

Then .....

Mum: "The maid run away already"
Mr Neo: "Ahh?"
Mum: "I bring Siang to the bedroom, a while later come out, she's gone"
Mr Neo: "AAAaaHHhh!!! Where she go?"
Mum: "How i know?"

Fate

Just 2minutes ago, i stand at the carpark of *undisclosed* Building, waiting for Mrs Neo to get off work.

I look up into the sky and see a single sparrow (or some bird, which i see as a sparrow) flying above. I watch it and wonder if it will fly over me. It did a little curve and indeed fly above me.

At that split second, i wonder if it'll shit on me.

It flew pass overhead above me. I smiled.
I felt lucky. Haha.

I felt like M.C-ing today

My neck was stiff, it's drizzling, i had a tiring weekend.

When i opened my eyes this morning, i can only think of what's to be done today. Can i take M.C?

Punching away on my mobile phone, i quickly displayed the to dos for today...

No... Busy day. Important things to do.
Go to work...

A "memo"rable moment

Going to one client's office in the afternoon today, i parked at Marina Bay S.C.

Glad that my GPS brought me to the right place (yup, heehee i kept using it), i went for the appointment and was down in half an hour.

Walking towards my car, i noticed the hyundai getz in front of me. There was a "P" plate. Usually i will check to see if the accidentally bang me when one of these new drivers park near me. Walking closer, i noticed that one of the tyre of the getz was flat!

The driver must have not noticed, cause it's really flat. So flat, the rim is touching the floor! He must have driven quite a distance for that to happen.

So MrFriendly (Me), whipped out his trusty red leaf pen and his memo pad and wrote "you have a flat tyre, change it before it damages your rim :)". And i went to place it at his windscreen (i assume its a he). To make sure he gets to see the message, i stick the memo onto his windscreen and flip up his whiper just to hold down the bottom part of the paper. (yups, i was using post it pads, bright yellow, well stuck to his windscreen).

Glad that i "helped" someone, i drove off and headed towards another appointment. While driving... I can't help but wonder if that person will think that i puncture his tyres cause i drew a smiley face at the end of the message.

If so he must be very mad at me.
